World Tasar Council

Hello Chris, Graham and fellow WTC delegates,

Thank you for your clear outline of where this rule change proposal is presently.

As it happens, the ATC Executive is meeting this week and an Australian view will therefore not be long in being forwarded to the WTC.

I have followed the correspondence in this matter closely since the designer’s report was given (by you Chris) on Frank’s behalf at the recent ATC National Championships at Airlie Beach in July 2010.

In that report, Frank urged those in favour of the weight rule’s suspension or removal to provide statistical support for their view and he has since proposed one method as to how that might be achieved.

My personal view is that unless that information is forthcoming and persuasive, then it is both fruitless and counterproductive to the class to subject it to unnecessary dissention. In my President’s report at the recent National Championships, I remarked that the Tasar class is indeed enjoying a resurgence in popularity – ‘a golden period’ and I wish for that to continue.

Further advice will be provided after proper consultation, as mentioned, later this week. (I have copied this email to the ATC Secretary/Treasurer, Adrian Nicholson).

Best Regards to all

Michael Paynter
ATC President
