NOTES
● Worlds Update: 6 charter boats. Thinks this will grow. Best quote so far in $34,000 from AUS. It would be useful if NA could unload the container (back of truck). NA would be more than happy to do this.
● Cost of shipping boats could prove prohibitive.
● WTC meeting at the worlds to be held online. Whilst the constitution states: “(2) The time and location of meetings shall, if possible, coincide with the holding of a World or Regional Championship regatta. The World Council shall meet annually if possible.” This may not be possible given the current climate.
● JPN still in lockdown and feel should not ask for the container boats. If they can attend to look at the NA charter boat options. 2 JPN have approached NA to look for charter boats.
● JPN proposal for removal of minimum weight rule. Look to move on this before the worlds. Need to allow adequate time for regions to consult with their members. JPN to forward he
● Julian conversation: The current plan is looking at having a set of moulds in both Batam and in Sydney. The issue is that to build the moulds cost money and then need a regular sales level. If the class wants to have a builder in different regions there needs to be a larger demand. Under current plan there would be no changes to the production or the design of the Tasar. Logistics of shipping is currently the issue.
○ Action items
■ Chris and Pete to reach out to NB Sailsports asking to be kept informed of any planned changes to location of builders. Also re-affirm that the class do not want any changes to the design.
■ Keep WTC informed of any changes to location of builders
● Change to constitution and voting: This can be held offline with a proposal made based upon other international classes as a template. All agreed time to bring the class up to date and many of the districts within Australia are now very small so this is outdated.
● Next meeting
ACTION ITEMS
1. Pete to let ATC (and other regions)know what the Sail royalties division currently looks like
2. NA to pass on to members about unpacking AUS container on arrival (off truck)
3. JPN to submit minimum crew weight rule change proposal to Pete who will then start the process. The timelines to be created when receive the proposal.
4. Chris and Pete to contact NB Sailsports
5. Pete (with help from Chris) to produce a proposal for class voting distribution to share with WTC for consultation.
6. Pete to contact NA to arrange a time for the WTC meeting to occur (although online) as part of Worlds process. This may not coincide with the actual event.
7. Chris to think about measurers meeting that is normally held following the measurement at a Worlds.
8. Pete to set up next meeting.
NEXT MEETINGS AGENDA
Meet in a months time. Agreed would be better to meet more often with fewer agenda items, rather than less often with more to discuss.
